Start with your priorities
Think about your longest drives, where the car is parked, and whether you care most about appearance, glare, or cabin comfort. Those priorities make a film comparison more useful than a list of percentages.
- Bring the vehicle model and year.
- Tell the installer which windows already have dark factory glass.
- Compare sample shades from inside and outside.
Compare the actual products
Ceramic and carbon describe film families, not a universal performance rating. Ask for the manufacturer’s data sheet for the exact product and shade being quoted.
Visible light transmission, total solar energy rejected, and infrared measurements describe different things. Compare numbers only when the measurement methods and glazing conditions match.
Choose coverage separately
You may choose one film family while varying the shade or coverage across different panes. Windshield and roof glass should be checked for suitability and local requirements.
Get the plan in writing
Your quote should name the film, glass coverage, removal needs, and warranty terms. Ask for the exact product specifications rather than a general performance guarantee.
