Read VLT as transmitted light

Visible light transmission, or VLT, describes the share of visible light that passes through a material. A lower percentage generally means a darker appearance.

A film’s stated VLT is not automatically the measured VLT of the finished window, because the original glass also affects transmission.

Look at the finished glass

Factory privacy glass and added film work together. Ask the installer to assess the existing glazing and, where appropriate, measure the finished result.

Preview, then see a sample

An on-screen shade preview is useful for exploring a look, but screens, lighting, and real glass change perception. Inspect a physical sample when possible.

Confirm local requirements

Permitted coverage varies by jurisdiction and glass position. The final glass and local requirements should be confirmed with the installer.

General template education. Product claims, local requirements, and studio policies should be checked against the actual vehicle, product, and business before a real launch.
